On the eastern boundary of the property, the volumetry responds to the small scale nature of the surroundings with two offset and slightly rotated building wings, interlocking with the existing open spaces. This creates in the northeast an entrance area and the adress for the dementia care facilitiy. As a counterpart to the existing west wing, the settlement of the new building encompasses the spacious park center created after the demolition of the south wing. The dementia garden ist oriented westward from the building toward the interior of the site, activating the southern front of the east wing with the surrounding landscape as an exciting open space. In the center of the spatial structure, in the location of the current south wing, a low pavilion with lounges for special occasions is arranged and, with its surrounding canopy, forms a central place for orientation. The quality of the existing enclosed courtyard with the cafeteria's outdoor area ist preserved, while the view of Rooterberg and the quality of the spaces are enhanced.
